The projects in Mali

In Mali, Fondation La main à la pâte works hand in hand with Fondation Mérieux, via the CICM (Charles Mérieux Infectiology Centre) located in Bamako.

This partnership, initiated in 2015, has made it possible to set up projects in Bamako with the aim of contributing to improving science teaching in schools while including hygiene and health issues and raising community awareness of health problems through children.

Project leaders and partners:

The mission of the Fondation La main à la pâte is to contribute to improving the quality of science and technology education in primary and secondary schools. Its action, carried out at national and international level, focuses on the professional development of teachers. It aims to help them implement an investigative pedagogy that stimulates pupils' scientific spirit, understanding of the world, creativity and expressive skills.

Fondation Mérieux is at the origin of the GABRIEL network of laboratories whose mission is to support developing countries in strengthening their research capacities. It has a strong connection with the local Malian context, thanks to the presence of the Charles-Mérieux Infectiology Center, already accustomed to training processes, based in Bamako.

These projects are supported by Fondation Christophe and Rodolphe Mérieux, Fondation Mérieux, the DREIC (Delegation for European and International Relations and Cooperation) under the French Ministry of Education and the Malian Ministry of Education.
