ASTEP: supporting teachers' training

Who is concerned ?

  • You are a scientist with recognised competence in a particular area.
  • You have a keen interest in teaching and coaching
  • Your availability is limited, thus you prefer to focus on short training sessions, conferences, or  animations

What you will do

  • You will share your passion for science
  • You will answer to questions related to your field or to science in general
  • You will show simple experiments to illustrate or comprehend the concepts you study
  • You will try and reconcile laboratory science with its scholarly teaching.

Advice

The whole training must include some time for collective reflexion and debate. Build a trusting relationship with your audience, so that the layman can talk and debate without fear of seeing his culture, beliefs, or difficulties discarded or ridiculed.

It is compulsory to take into account the cultural, scientific, and scholar background of the teachers willing to learn. Feeling and living the experiments is much more efficient than suffering a one-sided lecture. Favour less theoretical and more practical lessons, if possible, so that teachers can become
